Where's The Food Charitable Trust is a non-profit in Wairarapa New Zealand focusing on securing food infrastructure for the future of local food. The organization works to strengthen community food systems and build sustainable local food production capacity for the region.
Project story
The Where’s the Food Trust (WTF) for short, is a Trust made by farmers for farmers to solve local food issues. We as local producers have seen the difficulties in providing a proper local food system as an alternative for people. Ultimately there is a huge lack of local infrastructure making it really hard for the farmers to get food to locals. Therefore we want to build the infrastructure needed. Pack sheds, a local food hub, farm shop, electric delivery vehicles and investing in training and upskilling farmers. This infrastructure would be community assets able to be used by many farmers and food businesses all for the greater good of getting local food to local people.
We want all the glorious Wairarapa produce to be accessible to locals, then once that’s all being eaten locally, get busy nurturing new growers to start up. With the ultimate goal of a whole region that can feed itself. This will provide local food resiliency and sustainability - not to mention how tasty all that fresh food will be!
We work with Little Farms, Complete Cow, Vagabond Vege, Te Manaia Organics and many more growers.
