About

The Buffalo Back Consumers Federation (BBCF) is a not-for-profit collective working to strengthen relationships between communities, food systems, and the landscapes that sustain them. We bring together consumers, farmers, producers, and local enterprises to build fairer, healthier, and more ecologically responsible food systems. Our work includes Kai Thota, a women-led community-supported agriculture initiative near Bangalore; Dakshina Pete, a neighbourhood farmers' market promoting local and seasonal food systems; community enterprises rooted in traditional knowledge and sustainable livelihoods; and Ootada Aata, a campaign celebrating India's diverse food cultures. BBCF also serves as the secretariat of the PGS Organic Council, supporting community-driven organic certification for small and marginal farmers. At the heart of our work is a belief that regeneration depends on relationships of care, stewardship, trust, and reciprocity between people, land, and food.
