About

At Cœur de Forêt Madagascar, we are fighting to save a global treasure: Madagascar's forests. 44% of Madagascar's forests have disappeared in 70 years, a loss that threatens not only the unique habitat of the island's endemic species, but also the survival of its inhabitants. Cœur de Forêt Madagascar is an association that has been operating for 15 years. The main cause of deforestation in the country? Subsistence farming. To feed themselves, the population practices slash-and-burn agriculture. Our mission: to break the vicious cycle of poverty by empowering communities to preserve the environment. We restore forest ecosystems, raise public awareness of environmental issues, and support local communities in adopting sustainable agroecological practices.
