NonprofitAbout
Voedselpark Amsterdam is a citizen-led initiative creating one of Europe’s largest urban agricultural parks in the Lutkemeerpolder, the last fertile farmland within Amsterdam. Located in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, one of the city’s most economically disadvantaged areas, it is also situated in one of the Netherlands’ longest-running environmental protest sites. Emerging from a grassroots movement that resisted the construction of large-scale warehouses, the initiative has secured 9 hectares of land in hereditary lease. Together with local farmers, volunteers, and residents, Voedselpark is building a commons-based food system that combines regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, education, and community stewardship, demonstrating how land can be cared for and governed as a shared resource.
