Started in 2005 Community Mobilization Against Poverty –CMAP a grassroots non-profit organization, is focused on experimenting and rediscovering the practices and scientific values involved in the resource-conserving, life-giving and sustainable smaller-scale farming methods. We develop and disseminate realistic options for soil and crop productivity improvement. Our work is to aid farming families in western Kenya to live healthy and fulfilled lives by providing high value training and education in sustainable agriculture and related issues. Since 2005, CMAP has made progress in aiding at least 3000 subsistence farmers from 500 households to integrate promising technological options into their farming systems. Moses Mukongo- lead trainer with solid background in GROW BIOINTENSIVE (GB) Sustainable Mini-Farming, Adaptive research and community development started CMAP together with Bilha kibe. It’s led by 7 active board community leaders, managed by a team of 6 staffers and 4 volunteers

Nonprofit

Regenerosity supports and catalyzes grassroots organizations and leaders globally to protect, restore, and regenerate their communities and ecosystems. The organization flows trust-based funds to high-potential, community-based initiatives in threatened or degraded landscapes in ways that grow their capacities, scale and impact. Through its Blossom Program, a two-year capacity strengthening initiative, Regenerosity resources local grassroots organizations to strengthen their capacity and leadership skills while prototyping new models for regional growth. The work prioritizes transformation of food systems and livelihoods through agroecology and regenerative practices led by local communities informed by traditional ecological knowledge.

Project story

Transforming Western Kenya's Agriculture: One Mini-Farm at a Time

For half a century, Western Kenya's farming has prioritized yield over sustainability—leaving depleted soil, polluted water, and vanishing family farms in its wake. But there's a better way.

GROW BIO-INTENSIVE (GB) mini-farming merges innovation with tradition, placing ecological science, nutrition, and climate resilience at agriculture's heart. This proven method produces 2-3 times more food while using 88% less water and 99% less energy than conventional farming—all on a tiny plot of land.

The Challenge

Rural communities around Kipsaina in Transnzoia County face relentless pressures: declining soil fertility, prolonged droughts, and erratic weather patterns. Traditional methods trap families in cycles of poverty and food insecurity.

Our Solution

We're training 25 vulnerable households—prioritizing women and youth—in GB mini-farming techniques. Each trained farmer will teach five additional households, multiplying impact across the community.

What We're Building

  • Demonstration mini-farms showcasing practical techniques

  • Community seed banks protecting local biodiversity

  • Skills training in value-added processing and micro-enterprise development

  • Integration with savings groups and micro-credit systems

With your support of $10,000, we'll equip participants with knowledge and infrastructure to create year-round food security, generate income, and build resilient, regenerative farming systems that thrive for generations.
