Māa’ru Collective / Coletivo Māa’ru: matriacultural stewardship of land in Vale do Cercado, weaving education, community, and conservation into everyday acts of tender care
Chapada Diamantina's ancient mountains and rivers - among Brazil's most biodiverse landscapes - called: Māa'ru Collective answered.
We're building a small matricultural community rooted in a timeless truth: life thrives when humans live in harmony with all beings, and real peace begins in real community. On four hectares adjacent to 36 protected hectares in this sacred valley, we're creating something profound.
Our vision unfolds across three interconnected strands:
A functional community modeling ancient futures for today
An education space offering land-based and online experiences that reconnect people with deeper knowing
A cultural center for ritual, pilgrimage, and intergenerational wisdom-keeping
We're beginning with homes, rhythmic land practices, and cultural spaces. Art is one of our deepest language - through dance films, an Oracle deck of 14 Matricultural Capacities, Music, Writing and other works, we transmit these remembrances into forms that touch hearts and imaginations.
Alongside neighbors and local hands, we're cultivating food forests, permaculture systems, and beekeeping while protecting this valley's sacred waters.
This is a lifelong, generational project: a temple of synthesis, a hub for remembering that we can live decentralized, sovereign, and deeply relational with all our kin.
