Nature Sacredness and Cultural Rights Initiative (NASACURI)
Uganda
Nonprofit, Indigenous Group, Community GroupAbout
NASACURI is a women led community volunteers’ initiative, established to revitalize traditional value systems for nature restoration as a cultural right. We advocate for the rights of nature as a sacred entity by empowering indigenous people as custodians of traditional knowledge, engaging women as Earth caretakers, and mentoring young people as future heritage inheritors.
We are currently committed to propagating one million indigenous medicinal and fruit tree seedlings. These are being planted across 2,000 acres of 360 sacred and community spaces, including schools, religious institutions, traditional palaces and private lands, ultimately inspiring a new generation of environmental stewards. We have achieved critical milestones:
Nature rights and Sacred Conservation: Established a heritage hub of indigenous knowledge and environment and so far 200 of 50+ species at the centre. Initiated indigenous medicinal and fruit tree nursery and propagated over 10,000 seedlings. Mobilized
