Unlimited Hope Alliance Trust is dedicated to addressing critical issues that affect the well-being and rights of individuals in communities across Zimbabwe. The organization creates sustainable, positive impacts through initiatives including a key program called CORPSS that combats Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and promotes Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights. Their Women Empowerment program supports women in gaining skills and resources for self-reliance, while volunteers contribute to projects focused on nutrition, clean water, menstrual health, child support, infrastructure improvements, economic empowerment, and combating gender-based violence.
Project story
The Green Roots project aims to enhance environmental sustainability and improve the quality of life in the rural communities including schools and health centres, through the planting of indigenous trees, production of these tree seedlings and the provision of solar-powered boreholes. The project will address critical challenges such as water scarcity, deforestation, siltation and climate change while promoting biodiversity and community well-being.
The objective of the project:
Increase tree cover by planting 15000 indigenous trees
Seedling Production by establishing a local nursery of indigenous tree seedlings involving the community and trees over the next 4 years in schools and communities, hence creating access to affordable plants
Sustainable water supply by installing solar-powered boreholes in under-resourced schools and communities, ensuring access to clean and reliable water
Benefits
Indigenous trees provide habitat for wildlife, improve air quality and combat soil erosion and siltation
It empowers the community by engaging them in tree planting and nursery operations, enhancing their skills and reinforcing environmental stewardship
Schools will benefit from improved facilities and resources, including shaded areas and educational programs centred around conservation
