Reef Restoration and Innovation in Curaçao

Curaçao
Agriculture, Restoration, Conservation
KO
Kolektivo Curaçao
Curaçao
Nonprofit

Kolektivo is an Impact Network for the Antiano community to collectively create, fund, and support initiatives that drive social, ecological, and economic progress across the former Dutch Caribbean and its diaspora. Since 2020, we have delivered regenerative projects ranging from large-scale impact and tech events to microgrant programs and locally-built solutions. Today, Kolektivo is producing the Caribbean's first tokenized biodiversity credits in collaboration with SeaTrees, Regen Network, WNF, and CARMABI.

Project story

For 5+ years, Kolektivo has supported dozens of local impact organizations in Curaçao and helped create a Regenerative and Innovative culture across the former Dutch Caribbean and its Diaspora - the so-called Antiano community consisting of ~550,000 individuals.

Now we have a unique opportunity and clear path to scale and accelerate our regeneration efforts, with support from the World Nature Foundation Netherlands and in collaboration with CARMABI, through a scientifically backed and self-sufficient regional methodology for financing and monitoring Coral Reef Restoration.

We are implementing the Coral Reef Restoration methodology by SeaTrees, which, if successful, can be scaled across more regional Reefs and also have a module for Mangrove Restoration, which is also critical and we have supported before.

We’re 6+ months in the development process and are coming to a critical point where we need to finalize the program details and secure enough support ahead of the Coral Spawning Season in September.

This initiative program has huge potential to bring awareness, finance, and support to critical ecosystems on which our island’s population and ecology depend.

Gaining traction now also increases the chances of a strategic partnership with, among others, Stitching DOEN, one of the largest supporters of Regenerative Economic initiatives in the Dutch Kingdom.

All resources from this Ma Earth application will be dedicated to the execution of the current Coral Reef Restoration program.

Danki di antemano!

Love,

Luuk & Team.
