NonprofitGrown in Haiti is a Haitian-led regenerative agriculture nonprofit based in Cap Rouge, a rural mountain community in southern Haiti. Since 2014, we have worked alongside farming families to restore degraded land, build food security, and grow a regenerative food system rooted in the knowledge and labor of the people who live there. Our work includes agroforestry design and implementation, a community nursery, water infrastructure, and AgriNatif, our farmer network and first paid regenerative design service. We work in Haitian Creole, from the ground up, without intermediaries.
Project story
Cap Rouge: Building Resilience Through Water and Trees
Since 2014, Grown in Haiti has worked alongside the farmers of Cap Rouge, learning and growing together. Through AgriNatif, our farmer-led network, we are transforming the landscape. Our three farmer-leads, including Kenya, the only woman on the team, design custom agroforestry systems that work with each family’s land. We plant jackfruit and other perennials alongside annual crops, so families eat while the trees establish and build soil. Recently, we took on our first paid regenerative job, an early sign that the model can sustain itself.
Trees need water to survive. Women and children currently walk long distances to gather water for household use and garden irrigation. Our community water infrastructure is part of the same system as the agroforestry. One holds the other up.
This campaign expands both. We are extending water access to more farming households, training families in regenerative methods, and developing the treelines on our demonstration plot.
The families of Cap Rouge are the stewards of this work, not its beneficiaries. This campaign gives them the resources to lead the way forward.
