Quinta das Relvas Ass. is a non-profit NGO founded in 2016 in Branca, Portugal, dedicated to non-formal education in the fields of arts, sustainability, and social transformation. Based on an increasingly sustainable farm, the association brings together a multidisciplinary team that uses the space as a living laboratory for developing and promoting collaborative educational experiences. Located in a region heavily marked by industrial eucalyptus monoculture and the influence of Portugal’s cellulose industry, the farm stands as a biodiversity oasis and a living example of ecological regeneration and alternative rural practices. Through activities such as artistic residencies, workshops, conferences, training courses, internships, volunteering programs, and international exchanges, the organization fosters creativity, critical thinking, and active social participation.

Project story

Quinta das Relações: Regenerating Rural Portugal

We are Quinta das Relvas Association—a grassroots collective transforming a rural Portuguese farm into a thriving ecological and cultural hub. Surrounded by eucalyptus plantations, our land has become a biodiversity sanctuary, offering workshops, artistic residencies, and educational programs that reconnect people with nature and sustainable living.

But we're thinking bigger.

Our vision extends beyond the farm to revitalize the entire region. We're targeting the vulnerable hillside overlooking our village—currently scarred by erosion, wildfires, and biodiversity loss. Through native reforestation, water restoration systems, and regenerative practices, we'll create a resilient landscape that protects both community and ecosystems.

Your support funds land restoration, native reforestation, water infrastructure, and hands-on educational activities where local and international participants learn regenerative land management firsthand. This is more than ecological restoration—it's a living demonstration of community-led transition and collective stewardship.

Despite powerful industrial forestry interests and rural abandonment, we're proving another way is possible. One built on biodiversity, cooperation, and care for future generations.

Join us in regenerating the land.
