OtherSOMOS is a training centre for change-makers to transform whatever is in the way for them to start creating the regenerative gameworlds that will revolutionize the future. We train to become the change we want to see in the world. We are on the cutting edge of human evolution and regenerative culture creation. A regenerative culture is one where the earth thrives when we thrive. It is centered on entirely different things to the mainstream culture we were mostly all born into - which is centered on making profit, exploiting the earth, survival, hierarchy, war, territory, ownership and so on. We are currently living the devastating consequences of this culture. Something else completely different is possible, it is not a fairytale, we are experiencing it. A way of life centered on generosity, love, radical responsibility, creation and maturing into authentic adulthood, so we can play full-out exploring our unlimited potential without ecological destruction, competition or slavery.
Project story
We’re Lisa-Maria and Charlotte—two Gaian women who followed a calling to breathe new life into a forgotten piece of land in La Orotava, Tenerife. In 2023, a wildly overgrown 25,000 sqm property with a dilapidated building and an orchard that once flourished with apple, fig, avocado, olive, nispero, orange, lemon, and other fruit trees.
Tenerife is no ordinary place. It's a volcanic island with 11 microclimates, dramatic landscapes, and fertile ground for both literal and personal transformation.
This land is an ode to mother natures immense power of regeneration. The once barren land cleared to make agricultural terraces regrew a native brezo forest, vital to the island's water system. The whole place is teeming with life, birdsong and wildflowers.
Our role on this land is not as landowners looking to see how we can exploit the land for financial gain, rather we are the guardians of this wild piece of paradise, safeguarding it and nourishing it so gaia can continue to flourish even more.
In May 2024, we moved in with nothing but a small solar panel, no running water, and a deep commitment to regeneration. The land became our teacher. We walk it, listen to it, and slowly but surely, we watch it change. The orchard has begun to recover, new plants emerged, and the space is more vibrant than ever.
We are in the process of becoming zero waste, using 100% renewable energy, recycling and conserving our water and growing our own food.
We named this place SOMOS—Spanish for we are. Because we are becoming who we truly are and want to become in each moment and supporting others to do the same.
SOMOS is now home to a Regenerative Culture Training and Invention Centre, a space for radical responsibility, inner navigation, and regenerative living. A place for people to do the deep inner work necessary to build a new kind of culture—from the inside out.
To do this we work on the level of thoughtware - what we use to think with. We discover new thoughtmaps that we can inhabit as humans that open whole new worlds of possibilities of living in an ecstatically alive way and not compromising our mission and potential.
We are in ongoing research and experimentation to carry on pushing the edges of the known to build out new memetic infraestructure that serves us and the earth and holdig space for others to do the same.
