The purpose of Papawhakaritorito Charitable Trust is to elevate Indigenous seed, soil and food sovereignty through education, research, and practices that decolonise our current food system.

Project story

Indigenous-Led Ecological and Cultural Restoration

Our work honors the ancient bond between people, place, and environment. We're restoring the land our ancestors walked while reviving Indigenous culture and language—because healing the earth means healing our connection to it too.

Through reforestation alongside Indigenous communities, we weave together ecological restoration and cultural revitalization. Our practices—language, song, prayer, and ceremony—transform tree-planting into something sacred: a pathway for Māori and Indigenous peoples to reconnect with Papatūānuku, our Earth Mother.

Scaling Our Impact

We're expanding to a new area of our farm to grow this vital work. Your support will help us:

  • Plant 2,500 native trees with protective guards

  • Launch a monitoring program to track biodiversity gains

  • Hire a dedicated project lead

  • Bring Indigenous communities to our Healing Grounds at Papawhakaritorito

Together, we're proving that true restoration heals both land and spirit.
