Business

Valazomby is a Madagascar-based cooperative organization working on hydraulic dam construction, renewable energy, and irrigation systems for rural communities in the SAVA region. The cooperative creates waste transformation facilities to produce biological fertilizer from coconut waste, while implementing forest restoration and management initiatives through revenue-generating activities including vanilla, clove, coffee, and cacao cultivation, along with medicinal plant research sites. The organization aims to organize rural farming populations to address poverty, ensure food security, and support Madagascar's development.

Project story

Saving Madagascar's Forest Heritage

The Challenge

In the remote community of Antsahamena, survival and conservation are locked in conflict. Blessed with pristine tropical forests teeming with unique wildlife, this region faces an urgent threat: desperate poverty is driving families toward destructive practices.

With little flat land for traditional farming, locals have turned to slash-and-burn agriculture on mountainsides—clearing forests at an alarming rate to feed their families.

The Solution

COVAMA is stepping in with a bold plan: offering sustainable alternatives that let communities thrive without destroying their forests. This initiative provides viable livelihoods while protecting Madagascar's irreplaceable ecosystems.

Your Impact

Your support directly transforms lives and landscapes. By funding this project, you'll help:

  • Shift agricultural practices toward sustainability

  • Restore Madagascar's natural heritage

  • Secure economic futures for local families

Together, we can prove that protecting our planet and building prosperous communities aren't opposing goals—they're inseparable.
