Business

Agripay Ventures is a Uganda-based agri-fintech and regenerative agriculture company transforming how smallholder farmers access finance, clean energy and climate-smart farming solutions. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Fort Portal, the company provides harvest-backed credit, green loans, pre-season financing, solar irrigation financing and instant-pay agricultural trading services for rural farming communities. By converting future harvests into collateral, Agripay Ventures enables farmers traditionally excluded from formal banking systems to access affordable capital, invest in productivity and improve household incomes. The company also promotes regenerative agriculture practices that restore soil health, improve climate resilience and support sustainable food systems across Uganda. The company was founded by a team of young Ugandan entrepreneurs passionate about climate smart agriculture

Project story

Agripay Ventures is committed to restoring River Mpanga and the fragile Rwenzori–Mpanga ecosystem because the river is central to life, livelihoods, and identity in western Uganda. For years, River Mpanga was known for its beauty and purity, but pollution, encroachment, erosion, and poor waste management have turned it into a source of concern for families who depend on it every day. This project responds to that urgent reality with a practical restoration model.

Along River Mpanga, from Fort Portal City to downstream communities, degraded riverbanks, plastic waste, sedimentation, and catchment loss continue to weaken the ecosystem. The project will address this through regenerative green loans that finance riverbank restoration, indigenous tree planting, bamboo stabilization, agroforestry, and improved waste management. Agripay Ventures will work with farmer groups, youth, local leaders, and community organizations to implement and monitor restoration activities in priority hotspots.

Within six months, the project expects to see active community participation, cleaner river sections, and the first signs of stabilized riverbanks. Within one year, targeted stretches should show regenerated vegetation buffers, reduced erosion, and improved water quality. These changes will protect biodiversity, strengthen water security, reduce treatment costs, and support healthier communities that depend on the river for domestic and agricultural use.
