Boma green zone in the DRC

Congo - Kinshasa
Restoration, Conservation, Education
KO
KongoGreen
Congo - Kinshasa
Nonprofit

Perfect! I found information about KongoGreen. Based on the search results, I have clear information about the organization. KongoGreen is a non-governmental environmental organisation working to protect the Congo Basin, fighting plastic pollution, encouraging agriculture and livestock farming, while promoting green education and entrepreneurship. Since September 2021, they have been raising awareness of the dangers of plastic and working on solutions, such as the recovery and transformation of waste (PET, HDPE, PVC and PP), all by collecting data through Wastebase DATA. KongoGreen harnesses community action to address plastic pollution and environmental degradation across the Congo Basin region. Through education, sustainable agriculture initiatives, and waste transformation programs, they empower local communities to become environmental stewards while building green economic opportunities for a healthier, more sustainable future.

Project story

KongoGreen: Building a Sustainable Future in the DRC

Meet KongoGreen—a passionate community-driven movement born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Founded by determined young activists, this organization tackles the urgent environmental challenges threatening their homeland: rampant pollution, deforestation, and poor waste management.

Rather than importing solutions, KongoGreen develops practical, locally-adapted initiatives that empower communities to heal their environment. Their innovative programs span:

  • Waste management through non-toxic plastic recycling and composting

  • Sustainable agriculture including organic farming and community livestock projects

  • Economic opportunity via fish farming and beekeeping initiatives

  • Youth empowerment through KG-Academy training programs for young people and women

What sets KongoGreen apart is their holistic approach—combining environmental protection with economic development and community education. Every initiative is designed to create lasting change while respecting local contexts and building local capacity.

By supporting KongoGreen, you're investing in a cleaner Congo, stronger communities, and a brighter future for the next generation of environmental leaders.
