Sustainable Ocean Alliance Tanzania (SOA Tanzania)

Sustainable Ocean Alliance Tanzania (SOA Tanzania) is an award-winning youth-led non-profit organization empowering youth and coastal communities through ocean conservation, ecosystem restoration, climate action, and sustainable blue economy initiatives. Founded in 2020 as the official national chapter of Sustainable Ocean Alliance Global, SOA Tanzania works to restore ocean health while creating sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities. Our work focuses on restoring and protecting blue carbon ecosystems including mangroves and seagrass meadows through community-led conservation, youth leadership, ocean literacy, and sustainable livelihood initiatives. To date, we have supported the restoration and conservation of over 5,782.5 hectares of mangrove ecosystems, restored and supported more than 100,700 mangroves, restored seagrass habitats, and engaged over 800 youth and coastal community members across Tanzania.
