Project story
Our Vision
The vision of the Koanga Institute is to weave the knowledge of our heritage plant and animal collections and the experience we have on the land into a regenerative future for all.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create multiple models of integrated land uses and ways of living that regenerate Gaia and all of her ecosystems. We aim to inspire ourselves and others to reconnect more fully with life and imagine new ways of being. We are dedicated to educate and build personal and community health.
Regenerative Activities
Saving our New Zealand heritage food plants.
Education that is online, in-situ and in publications: in food production, health, soil health, ecology, regenerative animal management, regenerative forest garden design and management.
Building models of regenerative food production.
Building models of integrated land use.
Giving the public the ability to purchase our seeds, publications, tools and education publications and workshops.
Your Support
These funds will support the development of one of our integrated land use projects. Specifically these funds will support our ability to establish new fencing and planting riparian areas after severe flood damage, planting fragile riparian areas and biodiversity services, roading to support new developments, and a greenhouse to support the research garden and the kumara collection.
Our impact can be measured by visual recording through photos/videos/written and where necessary over a period of time that is appropriate for project aspect, eg. the increase in biodiversity can be monitored on the riparian areas planted.
