Ecovilab is a collaborative community focused on permaculture located in the mountains of Guaratinguetá, connecting people and nature through permaculture, collaboration, and experimentation for sustainable, creative, and community-oriented living. The organization cultivates healthy food using sustainable techniques based on permaculture principles, produces and sells artisanal foods that generate local income, and promotes circular economy practices. Ecovilab organizes events integrating art, culture, and sustainability while offering experiences that connect people to nature and strengthen the local community through education and sustainable opportunities.
Our Vision
Ecovilab is a living laboratory in Guaratinguetá, São Paulo, Brazil, dedicated to reconnecting people with nature and each other. We demonstrate that regenerative living isn't a luxury—it's a practical path forward. By practicing Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share, we're building the physical and digital spaces where communities can learn, heal, and create climate-resilient futures together.
The Challenge
The Vale do Paraíba region struggles with deforestation, soil degradation, and rural decline. Meanwhile, isolated urban dwellers feel increasingly anxious and disconnected from the natural world. Most climate solutions ignore the human element, leading to burnout and failed initiatives. Communities desperately need accessible spaces to experiment with regenerative living and collective governance.
Our Solution
We've transformed a rural property into an active permaculture hub where hands-on learning replaces theory. Visitors don't just read about sustainability—they build with natural materials, plant food forests, and participate in collective decision-making. Through agroecology, bioconstruction, and social permaculture, we're proving that ecological restoration and human flourishing go hand in hand.
Real Impact
Since 2021, Ecovilab has hosted international volunteers, conducted workshops, and partnered with local agroecological networks. We track tangible results: soil recovery, tree survival rates, and community engagement—plus the qualitative shifts in participants' environmental commitment and collaborative skills.
