About

Te Mana o Tauhara Charitable Trust leads a portfolio of restoration, reconnection, and regeneration programmes across Tauhara Maunga and its surrounding whenua in the Tūwharetoa rohe. From native afforestation and pest management to community planting days, visitor infrastructure, and geothermal ecosystem protection, our mahi spans the full restoration kaupapa of this tīpuna maunga. The Trust was established by the founding landowners of the Tauhara Collective, Tauhara Mountain Trust, Tauhara Middle 15 Trust, Opepe Farm Trust, and Tauhara North Limited Partnership, who collectively steward over 8,500 hectares of Māori-owned land. Led by Chairperson Jan Hania and Project Director Te Aue Addison-Valaau, and supported by He Akina Ltd, Te Mana o Tauhara works across a growing partnership network to deliver lasting ecological, cultural, and community outcomes grounded in mātauranga Māori and a 500-year vision for the maunga.
