About

Putika Village CBO is a community-based organisation in Tigoni, Kiambu County, Kenya. We are rebuilding the conditions for healthy village life, starting with the land and the youngest children. Our model integrates early childhood learning, food cultivation, animal keeping, and indigenous knowledge transfer into one living village ecosystem. Children aged 3 to 12 learn through seasonal rhythms (planting, harvesting, tending animals, caring for soil) guided by the elders and mentors who hold that knowledge. We are grounded in Bantu philosophy of Ubuntu; a person becomes fully human through participation in community life. Knowledge lives in relational practice, not institutions. Our members steward a shared piece of land that feeds families, teaches children, and rebuilds local food systems. The children's learning programme, operating since 2025, sits within this larger village ecosystem and is the primary vehicle through which the next generation of land stewards is being raised.
