Nogor Abad

Nogor Abad is a collective of mothers, fathers, children, and neighbors in Korail, a collectively built settlement in Dhaka, who come together through mutual aid and solidarity to endure and resist economic, housing, and environmental injustices. The collective works with non-profits, community groups, legal advocates, and scholarly and creative practitioners to build counter-narratives of life in Dhaka’s informal settlements. The work spans urban agroecology, wetland restoration, food aid, fire response, housing rebuilding, education support, and community-led storytelling. Nogor Abad’s methodology is grounded in slow listening, mutual trust, and co-creative action, rooted in the belief that people living through urban injustices already hold vital knowledge about how to respond to them. Rather than imposing outside solutions, the collective works through care and long-term relationships to build responses shaped by people’s actual needs, knowledge, and aspirations.
