NATURESHIP

Natureship explores how urban microhabitats, including composts, pollinator pathways, backyards, rooftops, stoops, and gardens, might be understood not as isolated sites, but as part of a shared living landscape. Inspired by the Rights of Nature movement, Natureship asks what becomes possible when overlooked spaces are recognized as valued participants in civic life, and whether networks of microhabitats might one day form a new kind of municipality. Beginning in Harlem, New York, Natureship brings together mapping, storytelling, and public engagement to reimagine our kinship with the urban wild. Allyship, Guardianship, and Citizenship guide this work as a practice of relational drift.
