Leuser Ecosystem Conservation Foundation

Yayasan Konservasi Ekosistem Leuser (KEL) is a community-based environmental organization dedicated to protecting the Leuser Ecosystem in Aceh and North Sumatra, Indonesia. Founded by local environmental leaders and conservation practitioners, KEL focuses on biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, sustainable agroforestry, and community empowerment. Our team works closely with forest-edge communities to address critical environmental challenges such as deforestation, habitat degradation, and human-wildlife conflict. We believe that long-term conservation can only succeed when local people become active partners in protecting their natural resources. KEL combines local knowledge, environmental education, and sustainable livelihood approaches to create practical, community-driven conservation solutions.
