About

La Ferme du Cerf Bleu is an 18th-century farm in Burgundy, France, where we are bringing 20 acres of tired land back to life. Around us, industrial agriculture has stripped the hedgerows and pollinators are disappearing. We have planted 500+ native trees, shrubs and plants, a truffle oak orchard, pollinator beds, a medicine wheel herb garden and 150 grapevines. We keep bees, run solar on the barn roof, and store 57,000 liters of rainwater for our long summer droughts.

The farm is also home to Sacred Paths, our school of animist teaching, where the land is part of the teaching.

We are Angell Deer and Rose Caitlyn Pezza. Angell is a trained veterinarian, beekeeper and author of Becoming the Medicine, who cared for a sanctuary in the Catskills, NY for 20 years. Rose is a poet (MFA), educator (MA) and shamanic practitioner who founded Oak Rose Forest School and spent over a decade teaching children through story and nature. Restoring the soil and our relationship with it is one work.
