Community GroupAbout
kuu village is a perma-pop-up village experiment for plural, off-grid futures. We bring together a diverse group of people — technologists, local community leaders, designers, architects, artists and local land stewards — to live and work together on the land for one to three weeks at a time.
Rooted in the Japanese concept of "空 (kuu)" — a space that embraces everything, bound by nothing — we combine off-grid living practices with decentralized governance tools to explore autonomy, collaboration, and circularity simultaneously. Participants co-create shelter, energy, water, food, and governance through their relationships with each other and the land.
The outcomes and learnings of each edition are shared as open source and passed on to the next community. We have completed two editions: Tsukigase, Nara (October 2025) and Shiota, Saga (April–May 2026).
