About

The Prescott College Kino Bay Center is a field station and nonprofit organization based in Bahía de Kino, Sonora, Mexico, dedicated to biocultural conservation in the Gulf of California. For more than 35 years, the Center has worked alongside Indigenous Comcaac communities, fishers, youth, educators, and scientists to protect coastal and marine ecosystems through community-based conservation, ecological research, environmental education, and leadership development. Its work focuses on wetlands, estuaries, islands, and marine habitats that support biodiversity, local livelihoods, and cultural heritage. Programs include marine mammal and waterbird monitoring, habitat restoration, youth education, community stewardship, and collaborative conservation planning. By integrating science, local knowledge, and experiential education, the Kino Bay Center helps strengthen long-term environmental stewardship and resilience across the central Sonoran coast.
