About

Instituto Vidas do Xingu is a community-based nonprofit organization located in the Brazilian Amazon. Founded by riverside families affected by the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Dam, the organization works to strengthen traditional communities through environmental stewardship, sustainable livelihoods, food security, and cultural preservation. Our work is led by artisanal fishers, women leaders, youth, and elders who carry deep traditional knowledge of the river, forest, and seasonal cycles of the Xingu territory. We support community resilience through collective action, environmental education, sustainable use of natural resources, and local income generation initiatives rooted in respect for nature and traditional ways of life. We believe regeneration begins with the people who protect and live with the territory every day.
