About

Himalayan Nature (HN) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and independent conservation organization established in Nepal in the year 2000. Based in Kathmandu, HN operates field stations in key biodiversity regions, including Koshi, Chitwan, and Shuklaphanta. Since 2011, HN has been a member of the IUCN and only Nepali organization holding membership in the global Alliance for Zero Extinction. HN’s work centers on six thematic areas: habitat restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate change, advocacy and education, social science, and community welfare. HN implements projects that conserve Nepal’s diverse biodiversity while supporting the livelihoods of people who depend on it. HN promotes participatory and community-based conservation strategies, integrating traditional ecological knowledge and indigenous stewardship with scientific research to enhance conservation literacy and strengthen local capacity, particularly among marginalized and vulnerable groups.
