About

The Gaviota Coast Conservancy (GCC) mission is to permanently protect the rural character and environmental integrity of the Gaviota Coast for present and future generations. We achieve this through land protection, stewardship, and promoting sustainable, respectful public access to the region. Our organization builds the capacity of our community to protect critical habitats and working lands, develop skills supporting resilient communities, and find opportunities to turn those skills into new career and environmental leadership opportunities. In 2024, the organization secured Rancho Tajiguas, a 3,272-acre historic coastal ranch facing imminent development. GCC's priorities include establishing Rancho Tajiguas Preserve for permanent conservation, developing an education center, advancing regenerative agriculture, and restoring habitats in terrestrial and riparian watersheds.
