Colectivo Luz de Mangle

Our organization, Luz de Mangle Collective, is a non-profit family organization, founded by our mother, an expert with over 30 years of experience restoring mangrove ecosystems, learning their characteristics, and applying them in places that need them. Her husband, Augusto Ruiz, has been with her from the beginning, supporting her fieldwork, and her children, the second generation, have joined the collective as they have grown up, contributing their professional skills gained over a decade of experience. Her eldest son, Esteban Gutiérrez Sánchez, is a mangrove sociologist, as Luz introduces him to the communities, given his deep understanding of how to carry out community-led processes, guided by their leaders and their needs. They consistently demostrarte that it is possible to improve the quality of life for the families who live in mangroves while also protecting the ecosystem. The team also includes a human rights lawyer and numerous community action groups and local associations
