Ametxe

Ametxe is a nonprofit housing cooperative in use-rights model based in a rehabilitated farmhouse from 1660 with 40,000 square meters of land in rural Gordexola, Bizkaia. Our goal is to transform our relationship with the land, food, and community through models of shared power. We are creating an ecosystem based on food sovereignty where collaborative housing, food cultivation, and community management reinforce one another. The team driving the project is made up of the residents themselves and activists committed to local resilience, self-management, and a harmonious connection with the land. The cooperative organizes workshops and community activities promoting cooperation and sustainability through regenerative practices in economic, ecosocial, and ecological dimensions.
