NonprofitAbout
Los Angeles Community Garden Council brings nature and neighborhoods together by supporting a decentralized network of community gardens across Los Angeles County. Planting Futures since 1998, in the aftermath of the civil unrest following the Rodney King verdict, LACGC now supports 40+ community gardens serving more than 2,000 households with access to land, fresh food, green space, and community connection.
At each garden, neighbors care for shared land in ways that are both practical and deeply human. They grow vegetables, tend fruit trees, compost organic matter, repair irrigation lines, conserve water, welcome new members, and pass along knowledge across cultures and generations.
By investing in community gardens, LACGC advances food access, climate adaptation, civic participation, and neighborhood belonging—placing resources closer to the people and places growing a more just and sustainable Los Angeles. We bring nature and neighbors togethers.
